In his honour and recognition , the band celebrates his close friendship with Burns.
Founder of The Willie Stewart Band , I was born in Dumfries, Scotland and grew up in the nearby town of Castle Douglas, Scotland. Spending some time in and around Cumnock, South Ayrshire in my late teens and experienced life in the heart of Burns country.
Just like Burns, I spent some time in the Pubs and was exposed to the music, people and characters that frequented the pubs that are the very same establishments that Rabbie would have had a few 'wee haufs' in himself!
Growing up in Burns country, I never really gave it a second thought as to the popularity and significance of Robert Burns worldwide. I now appreciate his life and works more than ever, which has inspired me to add this show to my musical portfolio.
When I emigrated to Canada, I realized the significance of Burns and my ability to play music, coupled with my background ensures that when you engage me or my band you will be assured the very essence of authenticity for your entertainment.
The "Address Tae The Haggis", performed in the most broad southern 'Gallowa' Scottish accent that someone from Dumfries & Galloway can perform with true authenticity !
